Liverpool braced for another storm, woman stuck in bed and man's heartbreaking last text

Good morning, these are the latest ECHO headlines today.

Met Office predictions for Liverpool as Storm Barra set to hit the UK

Strong winds are set to hit Merseyside once again this week as forecasters predict another storm coming our way.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the region, expected to be battered again on Tuesday.

The alert comes less than a fortnight after Storm Arwen caused travel disruption as trees were ripped from the ground across the region.

The Met Office believes further travel disruption could hit the area from 9am on Tuesday and has issued a warning that extends to midnight.

It added road, rail, air and ferry transport delays are "likely".

Woman stuck in bed for five years after mum notices something wrong with her

Leah Smith has spent the last five years bed bound after her mum spotted something wrong with her.

The mum-of-five, from North Wales, has to lie flat and often suffers from seizures and numbness in different parts of her body.

Leah's world was suddenly turned upside down back in February 2017 when she first started experiencing a "stroke-like" episode.

Leah's mum, Debbie Smith, 62, told the ECHO: "She was having stroke-like symptoms. I was actually sat next to her when it happened.

"It was completely out of the blue. She looked a bit vacant, she was able to speak but I would see she wasn't completely with us so I rang an ambulance.

"It was like an altered consciousness, I could see she wasn't herself."

Sister's last text from fit and healthy brother as he lay dying in hospital

A heartbroken sister revealed the last text she received from her fit and healthy brother as he lay dying in hospital.

John Eyers, 42, from Southport, died of covid after thinking he wouldn't need the vaccine because he was fit and healthy.

The dad-of-one believed he would only suffer a "mild illness" before turning down the Covid jab.

But his twin sister, Jenny McCann, said how the family was hit by tragedy when John was taken to hospital with coronavirus and died four weeks later.

While he was in hospital, John sent a text to his sister and said: “Don’t let them give up on me.”

This was the last message Jenny received from her twin brother who died on July 27.
