This is how many subs teams are allowed in the Champions League final

Liverpool has been allowed to name TWELVE substitutes for the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

UEFA confirmed the increase from seven substitutes will apply to both the showdown in Madrid on June 1 - as well as the earlier Europa League final in Baku.

The governing body introduced the change for this season's UEFA Super Cup clash between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, with clubs also able to bring on a fourth substitute during extra time.

The new rule spared Jurgen Klopp the headache of having to disappoint a number of his players for today's game against Tottenham in Atletico's home stadium, the Estadio Metropolitano.

Danny Ings was the main absentee from the seven-strong bench when Liverpool faced Real Madrid in last season's Champions League final in Kiev.
