Big-hearted Jurgen Klopp has vowed his Liverpool team will do everything to win the Premier League title for a terminally-ill four-year-old fan.
Liverpool could end their 30-year wait for glory by beating Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday, should current champions Manchester City slip up at home to Arsenal tonight.
And kind Klopp has said he wants to dedicate Liverpool’s push to William Watkins after learning the young Reds fan faces a tragic fate due to cancer.
William’s parents Ian and Nicola received the heartbreaking news last week that cancer has spread from the brain of their beloved boy and was also present in his spine. Without immediate chemotherapy, it's predicted that he sadly may not survive past eight weeks.
Klopp recorded an emotional video ahead of Sunday’s clash with Everton and promised his players would give everything to achieve their goal of winning the title to raise William’s spirits.
In the video, Klopp says: "Hi William, I heard you are a Liverpool supporter, you probably know me I'm Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, and this message is especially for you.
"I heard you have not the best time at the moment; I'm sorry for that. I really feel for you. But we can lift it a little bit by starting the Premier League again, and we'll play again for you.
“Not alone for you, but especially for you. We will give our everything to fulfil our big, big, big, target this year.
“On Sunday, late-night we will start playing against Everton and from that moment on we will again fight with all we have especially for you.
“I will tell the boys, and I hope you can use that power to fight as well, and I wish you all the best, and I hope to see you soon, yours Jurgen Klopp.
“And don't forget, you will never walk alone."
William has also received messages of support from Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliot, who has also sent a signed shirt. And he's even had a video message from his favourite CBeebies TV character, Mr Tumble.
Nicola Joshua, William's mum, said the messages of support for her boy had reduced her to tears and that she 'couldn't thank everyone enough'.
William and his family should currently be in Florida on a holiday of a lifetime arranged by kids cancer charity - but Covid-19 put a stop to that.
The mental health charity 'inch by inch' is supporting the welfare of the family and are doing all they can to make little William's wish list a reality. They have set up a go fund me page, which has more information.
