Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's hilarious response to bizarre request in US tour press conference

Jurgen Klopp has had to field some strange questions during his time at Liverpool.

But there has never been anything quite like the request the Reds boss received after his team's 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in Notre Dame on Friday.

Having answered queries about the performance of his team, what needs to improve and the profile of football in the United States, Klopp was given a simple poser by one journalist as the second part of the final question.

“I'm never going to get the chance to ask you again – so any chance I could get a hug?” said the hack, whose intentions may have been given away slightly by him wearing a Liverpool cap and shirt.

Klopp roared with laughter and responded: “That's probably the best second question I've ever heard... I've had that a few times as the first question, though!”

The press conference then finished, but the exchange had not.

As Klopp left his seat, he was greeted by the journalist who implored: “What about that hug boss? Bring it in!”

The Liverpool manager responded with a trademark bear hug.

And then, upon noticing the strangely familiar appearance of the man stood in front of him, Klopp declared: “You look like my f***ing doppelganger!”

And to think there are those who believe Americans haven't fully embraced the beautiful game...

Liverpool's US tour continues with the second match - against Sevilla in Boston's Fenway Park - on Sunday night
