Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's Christmas wish for Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti ahead of FA Cup showdown

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has wished new Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti all the best in his new role at Goodison Park.

The Italian was in charge of the Napoli side who defeated Liverpool 2-0 in the Champions League group stage clash in September.

Ancelotti is therefore the only manager to have got the better of Klopp's seniors this term and has a solid record against the German having enjoyed a 1-0 triumph last season.

Asked if he was looking forward to the upcoming FA Cup showdown between Liverpool and Everton on January 5, Klopp responded: "I couldn't be further away from the FA Cup at the moment.

"[We have] three very important games in between that [so] I cannot really think about that.

"I get it that Carlo yesterday had to speak [in his press conference] already about it and his record and all stuff like that.

"I like him a lot...I liked him a lot," Klopp laughed.

To which Klopp was asked: "No Christmas card then?"

"Look it is difficult in this business to have friends," the Club World Cup winning boss admitted.

"With David Wagner (former Huddersfield boss) I was friends [with him] before we became managers. All the others we meet from time to time but with him the relationship was always special.

"We (himself and Ancelotti) meet a couple of times during the year probably more often than we are used to but that's all.

"I would love to say I wish him luck...Oh it's Christmas I wish him luck."
