Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp receives Real Madrid memento after 'strange' comments

Jurgen Klopp has received a 3D replica of the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium following his comments about it after Liverpool’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

A brace from Vinicius Junior, either side of a goal from Marco Asensio, handed Real a 3-1 win over the Reds on Tuesday night.

The game was played at Madrid's 6,000-seat Di Stefano Stadium, inside their Valdebebas training base, rather than their famous Santiago Bernabeu home.

The Bernabeu is currently undergoing extensive renovations with the club taking advantage of the current coronavirus-induced ban on spectators enabling them to accelerate their project which includes building a retractable roof.

There will also be a new exterior to the stadium and an underground car park put in place.

Work had originally been planned to finish in the summer of 2022 but club president Florentino Perez announced last June it had begun ahead of schedule.

But following Tuesday’s game, the Reds boss appeared to take issue with the stadium in his post-match press conference.

He said: "This here tonight was really strange because it was a difficult situation in the stadium, but Anfield is at least a proper stadium and that will be good for us."

Zidane, though, was unmoved with Klopp's comments, saying: "I don't have an opinion about what Jurgen says, we are proud to play in this stadium."

And now following Klopp's comments, Eleven Force, the company that designed the ground, have decided to send him a memento from his visit.

"We know that Jurgen is a guy with a great sense of humour and he sure welcomes it with good humour,” Jose Guerrero, head of the company, said.

“In addition, we will also send him a Wanda (Metropolitan) to serve as a souvenir of his last Champions won (in 2019) and a Son Moix for when, as he commented, they decide to come and train Real Mallorca.”
