Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on Everton's 'significant investment'

Liverpool host Everton at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday knowing a win could take them back into the top four.

The Reds have won just two top flight matches in their last 10, but hold a 23-game unbeaten record over the Blues which is the longest against any opponent in their history.

However, Carlo Ancelotti's side are unbeaten in each of their last seven Premier League away games and come into the match looking to bounce back after defeats at home to Fulham and Manchester City.

Ahead of the game, kicking-off at 5.30pm, Jurgen Klopp detailed his thoughts in the match programme - which you can buy here.

"Carlo is enjoying an excellent season so far," the Liverpool boss wrote.

"And I'm sure he and his club are pleased to see their significant investment into the playing squad bringing good results.

"This column is being written prior to their midweek game against Manchester City so I can't offer any analysis on how that match went or how it affects today. But the truth is it will probably have little impact.

"This is a derby. So other results and situations are not for thinking about.

"It will be entirely about this 90 minutes.

"I know our mood a little better and I was so pleased for all the players and staff that in Budapest our performance produced the result we deserved. This hasn't been the case recently.

"After a game, media duties are an important element of this role, because it is a vehicle to communicate with our supporters. But I know after the Manchester City and Leicester City contests it would have been difficult for some to understand why I saw positive elements in both.

"As the manager, I cannot ignore good things because people don't want to hear about them at that moment. This I get 100 percent: that when you lose it makes everything taste bad.

"But it's true we had a lot of excellent moments in those matches. Things to like. More importantly things to build on.

"Trust me when I tell you no-one hated losing those games more than me. I really hated it. But it is possible to hate the outcome while not losing perspective of everything else.

"Awareness of a circumstance and knowing why it is as it is, is one thing. Working to address it, is another.

"As has always been the case since I arrived at LFC, the solution to every problem lies within ourselves."
