Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp not interested in Germany national team job... for now

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has once again sought to quieten suggestions that he could be tempted to take the managerial reins with his native Germany.

The future of long-serving current incumbent Joachim Low - who has held the role since succeeding Jurgen Klinsmann in 2006, winning the World Cup eight years later - has been subject to plenty of speculation of late, with Die Mannschaft suffering a humiliating 6-0 defeat by Spain in the Nations League in midweek - their heaviest loss for 89 years.

Klopp has inevitably been linked with the post again as one of Germany’s most successful current managers, though insists that he has no interest in a new challenge as things stand as he battles to try and get injury-hit Liverpool in a position to defend their first Premier League title for three decades.

However, the former Borussia Dortmund stalwart - in charge at Anfield since 2015 - is evidently still not ruling out potentially becoming Germany boss one day in the future.

“Wow, I thought that is one of the questions I answered most often in my life!” Klopp said before Liverpool host Leicester in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday night.

“In the future, maybe. Now? No. I have no time, I have a job – a pretty intense job by the way!

“I’m not sure if anyone asked for me or whatever, but if they don’t know, I have a job at Liverpool. And even though the weather is bad again, I like it!

“I’m responsible for a lot of things here, so I will not go and search for another challenge. I have enough challenges after waking up in the morning!”
