Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp makes admission over Germany job

Jurgen Klopp has admitted he would think about taking the Germany job if approached, but at the moment he is "totally happy" at Liverpool.

And the Reds boss said he is unsure whether the position in international management is for him.

The German FA have reportedly eyed Klopp as the perfect successor to World Cup winner Joachim Low, who sees his contract expire after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Klopp 's own contract on Merseyside expires that summer and he has previously suggested he may take a sabbatical when he eventually does leave Anfield.

While he is uncertain if he would be interested in the position, Klopp told Magenta TV he would consider the approach if it were made.

He said: "I really can not say. I do not know if I would like to. Now, as of today, I do not feel like it.

"Stand up now, I'm totally happy with what I do and that's important in the whole story.

"I also could not say one hundred percent if I was the right one [to replace Low]. If the question ever arises, I would think about it - but not now."

With the World Cup in Qatar taking place in December, Klopp could theoretically have a few months off after leaving Liverpool before taking the reigns of his national side.

But Kopites will be hoping that is not the case - and so will Liverpool's owners.

Speaking to the ECHO ahead of the Champions League final at the start of summer, Reds chairman Tom Werner made it clear it is hoped Klopp stays at Anfield for the long term.

Asked about the manager's contract situation, Werner said: "We don't really want to discuss his situation publicly, especially so close to the final.

“But I think you know that we think the world of him. We have already extended his contract once.

“All I can say is that it's obviously important that he stays for as long as he likes. We believe that he's committed to Liverpool.”
