Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has poked fun at former Manchester United defender Gary Neville’s countless lockdown television appearances, joking: ‘He has an opinion on everything!’
Neville is one of Sky Sports’ leading pundits, usually featuring alongside ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher on the flagship Monday Night Football show, as well as co-commentating on top-flight matches.
With no live football to show, the broadcaster has had to get creative, with Neville a regular on the daily Football Show, where he has tackled a host of issues around the coronavirus pandemic, football’s restart and its financial implications.
And Klopp has clearly been paying attention, telling the BBC: “I didn’t learn a lot during lockdown except Gary Neville has an opinion on absolutely everything!”
“It’s incredible! So no, I didn’t learn a lot but I have known myself for 52 years.”
Neville took the jibe in good humour, tweeting: “Delighted he’s been listening!”
The Premier League has been suspended since mid-March but there is growing optimism that the season will continue behind closed doors next month after the government gave its backing to ‘Project Restart’ this week.
Klopp’s Liverpool side are two wins away from securing their first ever Premier League title.
