Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gives Trent Alexander-Arnold public dressing down over Neco Williams substitution snub

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gave Trent Alexander-Arnold bit of a dressing down during the match against Fulham on Sunday.

With the Reds 1-0 down at Craven Cottage in the second half, Klopp decided to make a change, bringing Alexander-Arnold, who has just returned from injury, off and replaced him with Wales youngster Neco Williams.

The England right-back didn't look too pleased about the move, and came off the turf in west London and just sat down on a pitchside chair, without giving Williams the customary high five before he went on.

Williams, perhaps eager to get on the pitch and turn matters around for the Reds, ran straight into the fray but Klopp wasn't happy, according to Sky's commentary team.

"Just a little situation you may have seen down there, where Trent Alexander-Arnold came off, Jurgen Kloop wanted him to welcome on his replacement with a handshake, a reminder of the decorum," the commentator said.

Klopp stood gesturing at Alexander-Arnold with his hands stretched out, with the right-back more than a little bemused.

Liverpool went on to score an equaliser from the spot through Mo Salah. Williams brought energy to the display down the right flank but he couldn't help the Reds to all three points.

The 1-1 result leaves the Reds in second place, on 25 points, level with leaders Tottenham.
