Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gives statement on Rhian Brewster's future as Swansea City offered hope

Jurgen Klopp says Rhian Brewster is a part of his current plans at Liverpool, although he is yet to decide where the striker will spend the 2020/21 season.

The forward excelled during his loan stint with Swansea in the latter half of the previous campaign, scoring 11 times in his 22 appearances in the Championship.

Steve Cooper is eager to see Brewster spend the duration of the upcoming campaign on loan at the Liberty Stadium as the Swans bid to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Following his spell in South Wales, Brewster returned to parent club Liverpool and has since netted three goals in his two pre-season outings for the Reds.

Klopp was keen to cast his eye over the frontman this summer before choosing where the 20-year-old's short-term future lies.

And the German says he's in no rush to make a decision on the young Englishman, adding that Brewster will be in Liverpool's squad for their Community Shield clash with Arsenal at Wembley this weekend.

"In the moment, he is [part of the plan now]. We will have to see what will happen in the next few weeks or so," he said in a press conference.

"We want to use Rhian and want to help Rhian as well, so that's why we have to make decisions, but not now.

"He looks really promising. Goals are the most important thing in the football world and obviously he can score goals.

"He's still a young boy. Especially in his position, as a number nine, up front, experience helps a lot.

"We have to see how we can give him experience. Is it here or is it somewhere else?

"I only mention it because it's not decided yet. There's absolutely no reason to rush anything.

"He's our boy and for now at the moment he's here, he'll be involved in the squad tomorrow, that's for sure, and that's it."

It's been reported that six Premier League clubs and four Championships sides - one of which is Swansea - have enquired about having Brewster on loan next season.

The striker will link up with England's Under-21s after Liverpool's clash with Arsenal for their Euro qualifiers with Austria and Kosovo.
