Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that goalkeeper Alisson will not make a comeback inthe clash against Chelsea next weekend.
The Brazil international picked up a calf injury against Norwich in the opening fixture of the season, and Klopp admitted that it was a serious injury.
In his absence, former West Ham keeper Adrian has been filling in, and came under criticism after a shocking error led to a goal for Southampton in Liverpool's narrow 2-1 win last month.
Alisson has been closing in on a comeback over the international break, but Klopp says that the target for his return is after the next international break in October.
"Alisson is improving but we can't put any pressure on him," Klopp told reporters.
"It was a serious injury in the calf but now it's much better. We don't know exactly [when he'll return].
"The target was always after the next international break."
The manager also revealed that midfielder Naby Keita is close to a return to action, but will also likely miss out on the trip to Stamford Bridge next weekend.
The midfielder has been plagued by injuries since joining Liverpool, and is yet to make an appearance this season other than a second-half cameo in the Community Shield.
However, he is only returning to training later this week, and as such looks certain to miss out on next weekend's Premier League clash.
"Naby is close. He could be in training when we come back from [the Champions League fixture in] Napoli next week."
