Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has continued his war of words with Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder.
Klopp and Wilder haven’t seen eye to eye this season after a series of disagreements in recent months.
The two disagreed over the potential re-introduction of the five substitutes rule in the Premier League.
Klopp is all for it, and has confirmed as much in numerous post-game complaints about the congested fixture schedule.
But Wilder isn’t convinced, and has claimed the rule would simply give an advantage to the likes of Liverpool, who have a significantly stronger bench to the Blades.
Klopp has often been left furious about the fixture schedule, having been asked on occasion to play in the Saturday lunchtime Premier League game after having a Champions League game just three days prior on the Wednesday.
But regardless of his complaints, the Premier League will not be allowing the five substitutes rule to return.
Liverpool face Wolves on Sunday night with the chance to jump to the top of the table, and will be cheered on by 2,000 fans at Anfield in line with government covid regulations.
This will be the Reds’ first game with fans since becoming English champions for the first time since 1990.
And when discussing the return of fans, Klopp couldn’t resist taking a cheeky verbal jab at Wilder.
He said: "Is having fans back important (for results)? I don't know.
"If I say having fans back helps, then Chris Wilder will say that it's not okay that Liverpool has supporters and Sheffield United does not. He has said it already.
"If Sheffield United would have supporters and Liverpool would not, then I cannot change that.
"Is it nice for the people to get back? Yes, it is. Very nice and I'm really happy for the people to be back in the stadium.
"Do we expect 2,000 people will push us through a difficult game and we will win because of them? No, I don't expect that. I know we have to help ourselves and then we will see what kind of atmosphere we can create together. I have no idea how it will be.”
