Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp explains why he no longer wears glasses

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has explained why he no longer wears glasses.

The German manager has sported specs ever since he took over at Anfield - but fans quickly noticed a new look ahead of this season.

Klopp’s missing eyewear even attracted the attention of Specsavers back in July.

Sources confirmed a little while ago that he had "a bit of treatment on his eyes which went really well."

And now Klopp has given more details about the situation in an interview with Sky Sports.

One of the most frequent questions in their #AskKlopp chat was about his spectacles - or lack of them.

It was put to Klopp: "How does it feel not to wear glasses anymore? I can't get used to it..."

He replied: "Yeah, like me! It's really strange I have to say.

"I'm fine, I don't need them. Maybe I could use them for specific situations and maybe I will. I don't know. But it's still strange."

He confirmed the procedure was "lens implants" rather than laser eye surgery.

But Klopp refused to rule out the trademark glasses making a return to the touchline at some stage.

He explained: "(I may still need them) for very far distance. Now light is getting worse, we play a lot of floodlit games.

"I cannot get used to it for myself, it's really tricky.

"All of a sudden I see shadows and stuff like this which you don't see when you wear glasses.

"When you take the glasses off you don't see your face, it's completely fine! And now I see all the things...oh my God.

"It's not cool. It's really likely that I will use them (glasses) for games. But for normal things I don't need them, so I don't wear them."
