Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp drops hint he's ready to splash the cash in transfer window

Jurgen Klopp has dropped a hint he could be about to splash the cash at Liverpool this summer transfer window.

The Reds won the Champions League and finished second in the Premier League last season, and Klopp is happy with the squad at his disposal.

But Liverpool have parted company with Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge this month - both of whom left after their contracts expired - and could do with some fresh faces in the ranks.

Reds boss Klopp suggested he considers as much in a recent interview with German broadcaster ZDF, in which he hinted Liverpool could be about to spend money.

"Liverpool is an ambitious club and if we didn't spend the same amount of money as others, we wouldn't be able to compete," said Klopp.

"Everybody's splashing the cash, so we have to do the same."

One man linked with a move to Liverpool is Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo, who would provide cover for Scotland international Andy Robertson.

Firpo impressed in La Liga last season, but would set the Reds back the price of his contract release clause - a whopping £45million.
