Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp drops Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hint ahead of Arsenal visit

On Wednesday night, Liverpool welcome another north London outfit to Anfield.

The Premier League leaders beat Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon and will look to complete a unique double when they face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

Although, the Reds have already beaten the Gunners once this season.

But that was very much a full strength team in which Jurgen Klopp named back in August.

That might not be the case on Wednesday as the German tactician did field a totally different side in the last round against MK Dons and could repeat that stance against the Gunners.

As spotted by the Liverpool Echo, Klopp appears to have dropped some hints in regards to his team selection.

Naby Keita, Adam Lallana and former Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - starters in round three - were all unused substitutes in the 2-1 win over Spurs so that would suggest the trio will be named in the XI on Wednesday.

One player who will certainly miss the game is central defender Joel Matip as reports claim he will miss up to six weeks of action.

As a result, Dejan Lovren is likely to retain his place and could be partnered by Joe Gomez if Klopp opts to rest Virgil van Dijk ahead of the Reds' Premier League trip to Aston Villa at the weekend.

Another big decision facing Klopp is whether or not to hand Harvey Elliott - a summer signing from Fulham - a start.

The teenager was excellent on his senior debut against MK Dons, but with Divock Origi back in contention it could mean that Harvey has to settle for a place on the bench.

With that said, Both van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will be available for selection, as confirmed by Klopp.

"Virgil has got a dead leg. It’s painful but he will be fine," Klopp told reporters.

"And Mo is his ankle, it gets sore the longer the game goes but it is not a massive issue."
