Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits receiving letter from 'cheeky' Man Utd fan, 10

Jurgen Klopp has admitted replying to a letter sent by a young Man Utd fan and stated 'not everyone has to support Liverpool'.

Daragh Curley, 10, of Donegal penned a message to the Liverpool boss, asking him to stop winning matches.

Liverpool currently have double the amount of points United have this season, and sit 38 ahead of their rivals in the table.

Klopp's letter in response read: "Unfortunately, on this occasion I cannot grant your request, not through choice anyway."

He went on to explain how Man Utd were "lucky" to have Daragh as a fan and that he enjoyed the rivalry between the two clubs.

When quizzed on the letter in his press conference on Friday, Klopp said: "It wasn't me feeling sympathetic - I had time, but I can't answer all letters I get in a day - I get a lot.

"But it was nice, it was cheeky. I had time that day so I read the letter and replied."

The letter has since gone viral after it was shared on social media.

Klopp added: "When I send a letter it is private, I don't like that it is in the newspaper, but it's fine.

"I have no problems with supporters of other clubs.

"It is a free world and we choose our club. Not everyone has to be a Liverpool fan.

"I like working for Liverpool and I like the rivalry we have with Manchester United , but I like it even more if it is kept on the pitch.

"He [Daragh] looked happy in a picture I saw afterwards."

Klopp's letter to the Glenswilly National School pupil concluded: "I hope that if we are lucky enough to win more games and maybe even lift some more trophies you will not be too disappointed because although our clubs are great rivals we also share a great respect for one another.

"This, to me, is what football is all about."
