Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp addresses Thiago Alcantara transfer speculation after Aston Villa win

Jurgen Klopp has addressed speculation Liverpool are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

Reports in recent days have claimed Thiago is preparing to leave Germany this summer with Anfield his preferred destination.

There was even a suggestion Liverpool have already agreed personal terms with the 29-year-old, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Bayern.

The ECHO understands such talk is wide of the mark with Thiago a player the Premier League champions are not considering a move for at this present time.

And Klopp was asked about the rumours shortly after watching his side earn a 2-0 home win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

“Would you be surprised if I don’t give an answer on that, just because I never answer these kind of questions,” said the Reds boss.

“Thiago Alcantara is a really good player. Like a lot of other players out there, I like (him) a lot.

“But that’s all I have to say about that.”
