Liverpool block Rangers move for former Bristol City starlet previously nominated for European Golden Boy

Liverpool have blocked a move from Rangers for Herbie Kane.

Football Insider report that the Gers wanted to take the former Bristol City midfielder on loan, but Liverpool have no interest in the deal.

Kane moved to Liverpool from the Robins in 2013, aged 15, and quickly impressed in their youth set-up, also winning England under-17 caps.

Last year he was nominated for the European Golden Boy award along with Kylian Mbappe and teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn - an impressive feat for a player who had not even played a senior game.

Kane spent last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers, contributing to 17 goals from midfield (10 assists and seven goals) and winning acclaim from City fans after posting "One team in Bristol" on social media following Donny's win over Bristol Rovers.

The Gers were keen to take the 20-year-old on loan following the success of previous loan signings from Anfield under Steven Gerrard.

Another former Robin, Ryan Kent, impressed at Ibrox last season, whilst Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo have also moved to the Gers from Anfield in the past.

With Kane having not been selected for Liverpool's pre-season tour and missed out on a move to the Championship despite interest from Swansea City and Hull City, the Gers were hopeful he would be available on loan.

Yet, as with their attempts to take Kent back to Ibrox, Liverpool have dismissed their interest.
