Liverpool bar where you can get a salt and pepper box as your substantial meal

A Liverpool bar is giving visitors the chance to enjoy a salt and pepper chicken box as their substantial meal.

In order to open under the new Tier 2 restrictions, bars and pubs must now be able to operate as a restaurant by serving a ‘substantial meal’ alongside any alcohol they want to sell.

According to GOV UK, during a substantial meal "full table service must be provided" and the person eating must be seated.

Liverpool pub Abbey Road Bar & Kitchen, on Harrington Street in the city centre, has introduced a Salt and Pepper box that will fit the bill.

The box, which is priced at £12, contains salt and pepper ribs, chicken pieces, fries, halloumi, onion rings and a side pot of curry sauce.

Jon Hewitt, co-owner of Abbey Road Bar & Kitchen, said: “Our Salt n Pepper boxes are very popular with our regulars and I am sure Boris and co would agree that this is certainly a substantial meal.”

In a city that has claimed salt and pepper chicken as its own, we’re sure the box will go down a treat.
