Liverpool bar launches fundraising campaign for Ukrainian refugees

A Liverpool city centre bar has launched a fundraising campaign for Ukrainian refugees.

The Highball Club, which is based at Collective on Seel Street, is aiming to raise money for refugees crossing the border into Poland.

The city centre bar will be donating all profits made using its Polish vodka to Polish Humanitarian Action, which has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, providing medical assistance, food baskets, hygiene kits, blankets, sleeping bags and other essentials.

The Highball Club will raise money through the sales of bottles of its in-house Polish vodka, as well as its special cocktail menu.

The dedicated cocktails include The Ukraine Spritz and the Polish Martin, which are priced at £8. A bottle of vodka is priced at £40.

Announcing the campaign on Instagram, The Highball Club wrote: “The Highball Club aims to raise as much money for Ukrainian refugees crossing the border into Poland and we need your help!

“We will be donating profits of all drinks made with our Polish Vodka to 'Polish Humanitarian Action - SOS Ukraine' @polskaakcjahumanitarna through bottle sales and through our special cocktail menu.

“Cocktails - £8. Bottle of Polish Vodka - £40

“Our fundraising begins TODAY, Tuesday 8th March, and we hope everyone can help us in our goal to do whatever we can to help in this huge humanitarian crisis.”

A spokesperson for Polish Humanitarian Action said: “We drive with the transport of food and hygiene products to Ukraine. There is a warehouse on site from which products are distributed to the local community.

“At the same time, transports also take place in the south of Poland.

“Additionally, we are opening an emergency aid point in Rawa Ruska, which is operated by Ukrainian volunteers. On that point, people will be able to eat, drink something warm, and get necessities.

“We organize these activities together with Stowarzyszenie Folkowisko and Stowarzyszenie "Czajnia". Thanks to local cooperation, we can work most efficiently!

“Please, support https://www.pah.org.pl/en/donate/ ”.
