Liverpool avoid transfer mistake as Donyell Malen slammed by Borussia Dortmund

Netherland’s international Donyell Malen was linked with a transfer to Liverpool in the summer window but instead joined Borussia Dortmund before the Euros took place.

The £26million switch from PSV came after the former Arsenal prospect impressed in the Eredivisie with his goalscoring exploits.

But since making the move to Germany, Malen has only scored once in 17 appearances.

And Dortmund's director of football Michael Zorc has been left frustrated at Malen’s inability to adapt to the Bundesliga.

Sir Kenny Dalglish believes the Rangers fans have every right to feel let down by Steven Gerrard.

Last week’s big news in football was Gerrard’s appointment as the new manager of Aston Villa after departing from Rangers.

And Dalglish believes while there is no doubting that his fellow Anfield legend left the club with a heavy heart, he understands why Rangers fans feel dejected.
