Liverpool attempted to trademark their famous 'Allez Allez Allez' chant amid copycats.
Reds fans made the catchy chant a staple of their run to the 2018 Champions League final - which they lost to Real Madrid in Kiev.
But it has been since been taken up by plenty of other clubs, including Genoa, Juventus , Napoli, Rangers and Atletico Madrid, while England's cricketers reworded it after their World Cup triumph.
Despite the chant apparently originating from Porto fans, the Reds filed an application with the Intellectual Property Office to trademark the words “Allez Allez Allez” in November last year, but later withdrew it, according to the i.
Liverpool's lyrics to the song are: "We've conquered all of Europe. We're never going to stop
"From Paris Down To Turkey. We've got to win a lot.
"But Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly. The fields of Anfield road.
"We are loyal supporters. And we've come from Liverpool.
"Allez, Allez, Allez. Allez, Allez, Allez."
The tune to it comes from Righeira's 1987 disco hit L’Estate Sta Finendo (The Summer Is Ending) - which hit No.1 in the Italian Hit Parade.
It isn't the only copyright the Anfield club attempted to make recently.
The Reds tried to claim the word 'Liverpool' which was derided, and '6 times' - in reference to their sixth Champions League crown, which they won this summer.
A Liverpool spokesman told the i: “We are applying to register ‘Liverpool’ as a trademark, but only in the context of football products and services. We are not, and wouldn’t ever, seek to register ‘Liverpool’ across the board.
“This application is strictly to protect the club and supporters from those benefiting from inauthentic products.”
