Liverpool are 'strangling the life out of teams' this season, says Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand has praised Premier League leaders Liverpool for “strangling the life out of teams” after their 2-0 victory over Sheffield United.

Liverpool went thirteen points clear at the top of the table thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in a composed victory.

And Ferdinand was particularly impressed with the performance.

“(They were) totally dominant, they have composure, the mentality is there, it’s business like,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

“They’re demoralising teams before they get on the pitch. The players are sitting at home marvelling at these performances.

“They’re strangling the life out of teams and punishing them at critical moments.”

He also singled out Salah and Mane for praise.

“Salah, Mane, they’re a nightmare to play against. Mane especially, his only intention is to get it and run at you.

“He passes it with the intention of getting it again. The pace with which they do things is next level in this league.”
