Liverpool are now forcing people to panic - and Man City know they're not going away

The victory at Southampton on Friday was huge in the context of Liverpool's season. It keeps the pressure right on Manchester City.

They expect us to go away and the Reds are simply not going away.

Yes, it was scrappy. But you just can't knock the enthusiasm of the players. Their spirit is magnificent, to do what they've done in the last month or so.

Belief plays such a part at this stage of the season. You have to believe you can do it, and keep going for it.

Teams know that Liverpool can wear them down now. They are never going to go away. They won't settle for one point, they want three.

Jurgen Klopp's side are desperate to win the race for the title, and they are ticking all the boxes right now.

And we still haven't seen that quality, top performance we know they can deliver.

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool are 'on fire' at the moment

Liverpool are gaining a reputation as a team who plays to the very end and are always capable of netting a late winner.

They have become like the Reds team when I was playing or the Manchester United side in the 1990s and 2000s.

When games would go into Fergie time, opposing players would start to panic. The managers would make all sorts of changes and backs were against the wall, and then, notoriously, United would seem to get the winner.

Everyone knows Liverpool have that in their locker now. They can score late goals, and have done it more than anyone else in the Premier League this season.

That shows they have the mentality to do what it takes. And that leads to unrest in the opposing team.

When you play against Liverpool, you can't drop off. You have to put in the effort, and mentally you have to be on top of everything because Liverpool are alive all the time.

If you get caught napping - and tiredness comes into it - then the Reds can take advantage of that. And they are.

Next up in the Premier League is Chelsea on Sunday. Tottenham Hotspur, for me, was the one game I thought would be toughest during the run-in.

But Chelsea on their day can be a problem, even if they aren't as good now as they have been over the last couple of years.

Everton beat them comfortably and the Londoners have lost away games against teams lesser than Liverpool.

However, you can't take them for granted.

The one thing Liverpool have to do is something they haven't really been able to do at Anfield, and that's keep Eden Hazard quiet. Do that and Klopp's side win the game.

Hazard loves playing at Anfield, he loves the stadium and always plays well there. Stop him, and Liverpool win.

Henderson shows why he's skipper

Jordan Henderson is a leader - and he showed that when coming off the bench at Southampton.

I was delighted with his goal. He is capable of doing that more often, but his role in recent seasons under Jurgen Klopp is sitting in front of the back four and being alert to break things up.

He doesn't get into the opposing box an awful lot. He is instead the buffer for the back four.

His run for the goal last Friday was more like the old him, a brilliant run and a brilliant ball from Roberto Firmino.

Firmino has come into form in the last few weeks. The ball to him from Joel Matip for Henderson's goal was one Liverpool should play more often, going down that channel and towards the corner.

It was a super assist, and what he did for Mohamed Salah's goal was so unselfish.

You need a player like that, making a run and taking players away and moving them where they don't want to go. He gave Ryan Bertrand a nightmare because the Southampton man didn't know whether to stick or twist.

It gave Salah just enough room to be able to direct his shot. The front three are playing with real conviction right now.
