Liverpool announce new sponsor ahead of Premier League season

Liverpool have announced that famous chocolate brand Cadbury are their newest global partnership.

The UK manufacturer, who are owned by Mondelez International, have this week been named the Reds' official chocolate partner.

In celebration of the new partnership Cadbury have given 50,000 limited edition Champions Dairy Milk bars to a wide selection of Liverpool supporters.

The focus of the partnership will be to help the local community within Liverpool through the LFC Foundation.

Cadbury's first task will be to support the foundation's Virtual Employability Programme which was launched in lockdown to help those across the city region who have faced job loss and indeed been impacted by the pandemic.

To raise funds for the programme the iconic chocolate maker have donated an initial 5,000 limited edition Champions Bars which will be on sale in club stores as well as online. With all proceeds set to go directly to the VEP.

Liverpool legend John Barnes has shown his support following the announcement which was made on Monday.

He said: “LFC Foundation does such great work and this new Virtual Employability Programme is so important at the moment in helping people through the difficult times we are facing due to Covid-19.

"The success of the programme would not be possible without the generosity of the volunteers, so it’s been really great to team up with Cadbury to say thank you and give a little something back to them.”
