Liverpool and Nike release new shirt in honour of Chinese New Year

Liverpool Football Club has released a new a new shirt for Chinese New Year 2021.

Manufactured by Nike, the limited edition top is available to pre-order now on the official Liverpool FC online store and costs £44.95.

The Nike tick on both the front and back have been decorated with "traditional Chinese knots" that are used as symbols of good luck during their New Year Celebrations.

The top is made using Dri-FIT technology, is 100% polyester and "slim fit for a tailored feel".

In the summer just gone, Liverpool had been scheduled to travel to China for their pre-season tour.

It was set to be part of Nike's 'assault' on what is seen as a potentially huge and exceptionally lucrative market.

The city of Liverpool's history with China is itself vast, dating back to the mid-1800s when vessels bringing goods such as silk and cotton began arriving regularly on the docks.

Liverpool's infamous China Town is the oldest of its kind in Europe and the city's overall population is made up of just shy of around 2% Chinese descendants.
