Liverpool and Michael Edwards not interested in Real Madrid scout - and this is why

Liverpool have totally dismissed any suggestion they are interested in Real Madrid's chief scout Juni Calafat.

There has been no attempts to recruit the scout from the Spanish giants, nor will there be any in the future.

The Reds are completely happy with the world-class recruitment team already in place at Anfield, headed up by sporting director Michael Edwards, which has seen the European champions lead the way in world football with shrewd dealings in the market.

The ECHO understands there is nothing in Calafat's records, which has seen him bring the likes of Vincius Junior, Eder Militao and Reinier Jesus to the Bernabeu, that make him a more accomplished scout that the personnel Liverpool already possess.

On top of that, this also wouldn't be the sort of appointment Edwards would make for the Reds.

And the club were keen to stress there is not a grain of truth in stories circulating from the national media earlier today that Liverpool were considering an attempt to poach Calafat from the La Liga heavyweights.
