Liverpool and Manchester City 'interested' in signing on loan Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing on-loan Wolves forward Hee-chan Hwang, but face competition from the Midlands club and title rivals Manchester City.

The South Korean made the switch to Molineux from RB Leipzig during the summer, and has notched four goals in his eight Premier League games so far.

According to The Mirror, City and Liverpool have watched the 25-year-old a number of times.

It is claimed the Reds are interested in signing players who can not only provide cover but also challenge their star-studded attack for a place in the first team.

Wolves do have an option to sign Hwang permanently but are aware his fine form has made him a sought-after commodity, and are keen to tie him down in January to avoid a bidding war in the summer.

The South Korean international scored on his debut for Wolves at Watford, and also notched a brace during their 2-1 win over Newcastle. Hwang also opened the scoring at Elland Road as Bruno Lage’s side drew 1-1 with Leeds.

He was on the scoresheet again during his country’s 1-0 win over the United Arab Emirates in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday.

Wolves boss Lage has already revealed that he wants to keep the prolific forward.

On the topic of his wide options he said: “I hope the four wingers can stay with us because I’m very happy with them.

Not only Hwang, (Francisco) Trincao, Daniel (Podence) and Adama because they can give us different solutions.”

With Liverpool set to lose Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to the Africa Cup of Nations in January, the signing of Hwang could prove to be a timely boost for Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options.
