Liverpool and Man City to fight for Adama Traore after Wolves transfer decision

Wolves are ready to cash in on livewire forward Adama Traore after manager Nuno Espirito Santo was told to raise his own transfer funds.

The club’s owners Fosun International who bought the club in 2016 have been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and are tightening the purse strings.

Last September even before the outbreak of coronavirus sparked a world wide recession the Chinese conglomerate had negotiated a £50 million loan against future TV revenue with the Molineux cash reserves running low.

Now a frustrated Nuno who has guided Wolves to successive seventh placed finishes in the Premier League knows he has to sell before he can buy.

He is desperate to hold onto highly fancied striker Raul Jimenez but is prepared to listen to offers for fans favourite Traore who has just been called into the Spanish squad for two forthcoming Nations League games.

The club are hoping that Liverpool and Manchester City who have both expressed an interest in the speedy attacker make substantial bids for the 24-year-old.

Reigning champions Liverpool and runners up City both see Traore, rated one of the fastest players in the Premier League, as an impact player.

Traore started his career with Barcelona before moving to Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, joining Wolves for £18 million two years ago.

Wolves now rate him at more than double that fee and believe they have a ready made replacement in winger Daniel Podence who has impressed since his move from Olympiacos in January.
