Liverpool have been told that a Manchester City full-back is better than both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson.
City legend Paul Dickov believes that Joao Cancelo has managed to eclipse the pair this season.
Speaking to City's Matchday Live, the 49-year-old said: "He is just phenomenal.
"I think he is the best full-back.
"Gary Neville came out and said Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and [Andrew] Robertson are the best two full-backs in the world but Cancelo is better."
It has been a traumatic week for Cancelo off the field and Dickov added that it showed the measure of him as a person to play on New Year's Day.
“It just shows you what sort of character he is,” he added.
"It is very traumatic for it to happen but all credit for him to play."
Dickov's comments were made following City's 2-1 victory against Arsenal.
The Gunners went ahead thanks to a Bukayo Saka first-half strike but goals courtesy of Riyad Mahrez from the penalty spot and Rodri in the dying minutes of the game, saw City come out on top.
“Wow, what a second half," the former striker concluded.
"It had everything – a penalty, a sending off, a goal-line clearance, a late winner.
"I’m not a big fan of VAR but it worked for us."
