Liverpool and Everton handed major boost as UK 'red list' restrictions scrapped

Much to the delight of Jurgen Klopp and Rafael Benitez, the UK has removed the remaining seven countries from the “red list” for foreign travel, meaning the South American players won’t have to quarantine after the next international break.

The first international break of the season was met with much controversy as Liverpool refused to release their Brazilian stars as they would have to fly to a “red list” country.

This would have resulted in a 10-day hotel quarantine and missing key games for the Reds.

Liverpool were almost unable to field their stars in the next Premier League match as Brazil put in a complaint to FIFA, but sense prevailed and Klopp could call upon his key men.

Everton's Richarlison was given special permission to play by FIFA when this ban was looming as Everton released their star man for the 2020 Olympic games as well as the Copa America in the summer.

Fabinho and Alisson Becker missed the Reds’ win over Watford Saturday, 16th October after being away with their national side, but this problem will be avoided in the future.

Both players are key to Liverpool being successful on all fronts this season and them being unavailable for selection is the last thing Klopp needs.

The next international is approaching quickly and not having this headache to deal with will ease the minds of many Premier League managers and players.

It was made clear that the “red list” could return if the Covid pandemic worsened, but for now, players are free to travel without a problem.
