Liverpool and EA SPORTS announce partnership for FIFA 20 as Reds strike massive new deal

EA SPORTS have today confirmed a multi-year deal with Liverpool to become their official video game partner.

The big announcement comes ahead of the .

The Reds have struck an agreement with the uber-popular video game franchise that will begin ahead of the start of the 2019/2020 Premier League season, with the primary objective to bring EA SPORTS FIFA closer to Liverpool fans.

Billy Hogan, Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer at Liverpool, said: “Both on and off the pitch, we always challenge ourselves to bring our fans around the world closer to the club that they love.

"Our partnership with EA SPORTS will enable us to give our supporters even more opportunities to engage with Liverpool FC through the innovative and exciting world of gaming.

"We look forward to working together over the next few years.”

As part of the arrangement, EA SPORTS say that they will work with the 2018/19 Champions League winners to produce Liverpool-specific content for fans to enjoy globally across the club’s social channels, with the type of content yet to be confirmed.

Samantha Ebelthite, UK&I Country Manager, Electronic Arts, said that she was delighted to be partnering with the Reds.

She said: “We always strive to blur the lines between the virtual and real worlds of football.

"By partnering with Liverpool FC, we are delighted to continue breaking new ground, providing unrivalled authenticity to fans across the globe.

"It’s fantastic to become the club’s official football simulation game partner and we’re looking forward to working with the European Champions over the course of the partnership.”

A video, which you can watch above, has also been released showing several members of the Liverpool squad at a digital version of Anfield.

Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah are among the Reds on show in the footage.

One exciting development for fans of the football game series is the announcement that 'FIFA Street' will be making a return in the new edition.

The 'Volta Football Mode' will include 3v3 rush with no goalkeeper, 4v4, 4v4 Rush, 5v5 and Professional Futsal.

Volta - meaning 'to return' in Portuguese - takes the game back to the streets with an authentic small-sided football experience.

It will move gamers from the roar of the stadium to the rhythm of the streets in football playgrounds all over the world as they build a player, pick their gear, and express their own personal style.

EA SPORTS FIFA 20 is available to pre-order now on PS4, Xbox One and PC ahead of the game’s worldwide release on September 27.

Pre-orders are being taken through Amazon and GAME with prices from £44.99 for the Nintendo Switch version and £54.99 for XBox and Playstation versions.

A 'Champions Edition' - which comes complete with a host of FUT perks and 'special edition' player packs - will also be released simultaneously and costs £79.99.
