Liverpool and Celtic 'target' joins Albion Rovers on loan

Albion Rovers have snapped up "highly-rated" goalkeeper Harry Stone on loan from Hearts until the end of this season.

The 18-year-old was promoted to Hearts' first-team squad last season and was third-choice in the Premiership.

Stone has been at Tynecastle since joining from Spartans at under-13 level in 2015-16, and signed a contract extension in October 2020 until May 2023, choosing to stay at the Edinburgh club amid interest from Liverpool, Celtic and Watford.

Hearts rate the 6ft 3ins Scotland age-group international highly, and he is considered to be one of the top prospects in the country.

He spent time out on an emergency loan at Stirling Albion in October of last year, but has signed on at Cliftonhill for the rest of the campaign.

Boss Brian Reid told Albion Rovers' website: "Harry is someone we have been chasing for a period of time.

"He is highly thought of at Hearts and, as such, they were keen to hold on to him until the situation for the lower leagues became a bit clearer.

"We needed another goalkeeper after Ryan Goodfellow's departure, but I felt it was important to get someone in with real quality, and with Harry we have that.

"He is vocal and has all the attributes a quality goalkeeper needs."
