Liverpool and Celtic show coronavirus solidarity with anthem

The world came together on Friday morning to take part in an emotional rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone.

Liverpool 's famous anthem was played on radio stations across Europe and beyond to show unity and solidarity in response to the coronavirus outbreak - which has seen countries such as Italy and Spain placed on lockdown in an attempt to limit the spread of the virus.

Celtic also played the club anthem at an empty Celtic Park to join in solidarity.

People have taken to social media to react after the song was played at 7.45am GMT this morning on over 180 radio stations worldwide.

Football rivalries were put aside, with one Chelsea fan writing: "Radio stations in the UK and across Europe just played You'll Never Walk Alone.

“Very nice I must admit. Even as a Chelsea fan and rivalry with Liverpool aside it's a great song and causes goosebumps everytime hearing it. Especially in a time like this #YoullNeverWalkAlone"
