Liverpool are in talks with Burnley over the sale of Harry Wilson.
The Reds have been open to offers for the Wales international across the transfer window and have previously fielded calls from Newcastle United, Southampton and Leeds United.
It is the Clarets whose interest has been most firm, however, with the two clubs currently in contact over a permanent deal for the 23-year-old.
The ECHO understands a fee has yet to be agreed for the winger but the Reds would be looking to bank around £20million for a player who has been on the books since the age of nine.
Such a fee would make Wilson the most expensive player in Burnley history, but Sean Dyche is keen to boost his numbers before the close of the October 5 transfer deadline.
Liverpool's signing of Diogo Jota last week makes Wilson chances of breaking into the first team on a regular basis remote.
Wilson has made just one senior appearance for Jurgen Klopp, as a substitute in an FA Cup tie at Plymouth back in January 2017, but he does have Premier League experience after a successful stint at Bournemouth last term.
A productive spell with the Cherries saw him finish the campaign with one less than eight-goal top scorer Callum Wilson at the Vitality, but his performances were unable to stop Eddie Howe's side from relegation.
Wilson returned to his parent club at the start of pre-season with Liverpool making it clear to interested parties that another loan switch would not be considered.
After short-term moves away from Anfield to play for Hull City, Derby and Bournemouth, Liverpool are adamant that Wilson's next switch will be a permanent one.
