Liverpool and Aston Villa tracking Swansea City goalkeeper - reports

Liverpool and Aston Villa are monitoring the progress of Swansea City goalkeeper Steven Benda, according to reports.

The German shot stopper is currently on loan at Swindon Town.

Benda has made 12 appearances for the League Two leaders in all competitions so far this season, keeping clean sheets in five of those outings.

And such has been his impressive start to life with the Robins, reports suggest he has attracted the interest of Liverpool and Aston Villa.

Football League World claim sources close to Swindon Town have revealed the Premier League duo have both sent scouts to watch Benda in action during his time at the County Ground.

The 21-year-old has previously been a key figure at youth level for Swansea and featured in a number of first team matchday squads under Graham Potter last season.

Kristoffer Nordfeldt and Erwin Mulder are both out of contract next summer while Freddie Woodman's loan deal from Newcastle United will expire at the end of the season.

It could leave Benda - who is yet to make his first team debut for the club - as Swansea's most senior gloveman ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The goalkeeper - who made the move to South Wales from 1860 Munich just over two years ago - signed a new contract in the summer, with his latest deal set to keep him at Swansea until June 2022.
