Liverpool ace Trent Alexander-Arnold makes declaration rivals won't want to hear

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has made an admission rival fans won't want to hear.

The Reds ace has been looking back on the club's Champions League triumph in Madrid one year ago - and has said that success continues to motivate the squad to achieve more.

Following on from the final, Liverpool went on to clinch the Super Cup, Club World Cup and put themselves 25 points to the good in the race for the Premier League title.

Speaking to the club's official website, the 21-year-old discussed the progression made by the club under Jurgen Klopp and how improvements can still be made.

Alexander-Arnold said: “For me, it’s the progression we’ve made over the last three or four years and the strides we’ve made from being where we were to where we are now, it is massive.

“As a player, an individual and as a team, the progression we’ve all made is astonishing really. Obviously the manager is a big part of that, and the staff and everyone – the whole club in general has come on leaps and bounds. It’s something to be proud of.

“Over the lockdown it was a good chance to know that we’ve still got a lot of potential to unlock and we can still get better, which is what we strive to do.

“Thinking about what we’ve achieved motivates us to go and do those things again.”

On the fact 12 months have passed since that triumphant night at the Wanda Metropolitano, the England international admitted: “It’s mad to think it’s been a year since then but it’s one of the best memories I’ll ever have.

"It’s something I’ll always hold special in my heart.

"It’s good to be able to remember things like that and hopefully use that as motivation to keep those kinds of occasions coming up: playing in big finals and winning big trophies. It’s the stuff you dream of."
