Liverpool 4 Red Star Belgrade 0: Mohamed Salah scores twice in Champions League rout at Anfield

Mohamed Salah struck a brace as Liverpool sauntered to a 4-0 Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade at Anfield.

In keeping with Liverpool's recent performances, it was a sloppy first 10 minutes from Klopp's men but they gradually began to find their feet and took the lead in the 20th minute through Roberto Firmino.

Andrew Robertson broke away down the left and his cross found its way to Firmino, who took his time in the middle of the box before sending the ball into the net.

The goal settled Liverpool down and they were demonstrably the better team for the remainder of the first half.

They got their second goal just before the whistle as Salah, who had again been less than assured from several decent openings, found himself with space in the box and this time made no mistake.

It was 3-0 to Liverpool six minutes after the break when Salah netted his second from the penalty spot.

Referee Daniel Siebert spent several seconds deciding whether Filip Stojkovic's block on Mane was worthy of a spot-kick and eventually decided it was, much to the Red Star players' annoyance.

Liverpool had another spot-kick in the second half, but Sadio Mane missed; but in the end, Mane got his goal to extend Liverpool's advantage to four goals.
