Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle: Sadio Mane and Mo Salah strike at Anfield as Premier League leaders stay perfect

Sadio Mane scored twice as Liverpool came back from a goal down to beat Newcastle United 3-1 and preserve their 100 per cent Premier League record.

Newcastle took a shock early lead at Anfield when full-back Jetro Willems was fed by Christian Atsu on the left flank, turned spectacularly inside Trent Alexander-Arnold and rifled a right-footed shot into the far top corner.

The equaliser Jurgen Klopp's side craved came in the 28th minute when Andy Robertson teed up Sadio Mane to curl a fine finish into the top right corner from just inside the box.

Liverpool took the lead five minutes before half-time, with a huge touch of fortune about the goal. Roberto Firmino, just on for the injured Divock Origi, threaded the ball through to Mane but the forward required a rebound off keeper Martin Dubravka onto his shins before tapping in his second goal from close range.

Firmino was again the provider as Mohamed Salah extended Liverpool's lead to 3-1 with just over a quarter of an hour remaining - the Brazilian's backheeled return pass sent Salah in behind the Newcastle defence and he finished in typically clinical style.
