Liverpool 2020/21 New Balance kits 'leaked' – but never to be released due to new Nike deal

Pictures appearing to show Liverpool’s planned New Balance kits for the 2020/21 season have leaked after the club were told they were free to sign a new deal with Nike by the High Court.

Liverpool have been in a legal dispute with their current suppliers, New Balance, who took them to court over a renewal clause in their contract.

The dispute was ended when the current European champions and Premier League leaders were told they were free to sign a contract with Nike, after New Balance had attempted to block the deal.

Liverpool are now reportedly in talks with Nike over a five-year partnership.

However, New Balance’s designs for the 2020/21 season – which will now never be used – have seemingly been linked on social media.

An Instagram account has leaked pictures of the alleged home, away and third kit designs, which were still at the prototype stage.

The home shirt is a very simple design, all red with the Liverpool badge in a crest.

The away shirt is meanwhile all yellow, with a subtle gradient effect.

And the third, alternate strip is an eye-catching mix of black with lime green and blue accents.

New Balance last month commented on how disappointed the company was to lose their partnership with Liverpool, with a spokeswoman for the firm saying: “We believe strongly that we matched the competing offer and would have delivered many more years of record-breaking kit sales.”
