Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham: Mohamed Salah injury fears downplayed by Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has downplayed suggestions that Mohamed Salah could face a spell on the sidelines after Liverpool's matchwinner was withdrawn against Tottenham.

Harry Kane scored inside a minute to leave Liverpool facing an uphill battle at Anfield on Sunday, but second-half goals from Jordan Henderson and Salah - the latter from the penalty spot - ensured the Reds won 2-1 to restore their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

The only small downside for the Reds was the enforced withdrawal of Salah in the closing minutes - but Klopp seemed optimistic over his No.11's condition, insisting he does not expect any sort of lay-off to result from a minor recurrence of a recent ankle injury.

"No. It’s the ankle, the ankle he has struggled with since the Leicester game," Klopp said after the game.

"It’s good, but the longer the game goes the muscles get a bit tired, stuff like this, [and] if you get a knock on it then you feel it more and it makes no sense to try and push it through because we had other players, still options to change, and that’s what we did.

"No, nothing serious."
