What a night! (Reuters: Mike Blake)

It's time to bring the blog to a close, and I'm genuinely so sad awards season is over! But what a stunning finish. Here's a quick recap if you're just joining us now:

  • Everything Everywhere All at Once won the coveted Best Picture trophy at the 95th Academy Awards
  • The movie claimed seven awards overall, including three of the four acting Oscars for stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis
  • "For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities," Yeoh said on stage. "And ladies, don't let anybody ever tell you you are ever past your prime."
  • Meanwhile, The Whale star Brendan Fraser won Best Actor

  • A German remake of WWI epic All Quiet on the Western Front won the second highest number of awards with four Oscars, including Best International Feature

  • Sadly, Australia's Cate Blanchett, Catherine Martin, Mandy Walker and Lachlan Pendragon all missed out.

As always, thank you so much for your company (and hot takes!) today. Shiloh and myself had a blast covering the Oscars and we hope you enjoyed following along with us. Have a wonderful rest of your Monday!

Every time anyone involved with this genre-defying film wins an award, they are overcome with emotion. But as Beverley Wang explains, these are healing tears.

Eva Longoria speaks on how much further Hollywood has to go

By Jessica Riga

Speaking to Variety at the Vanity Fair after party, actress Eva Longoria said Hollywood still has a way to go in terms of diversity and representation.

'Tonight, we freaking broke that glass ceiling': Michelle Yeoh

By Jessica Riga

Speaking backstage, Michelle Yeoh said it's a historical moment and thanked the Academy for embracing true representation, saying it's been a long time coming.

"We need this, because there are so many who have felt unseen, unheard. It's not just the Asian community. This is for the Asian community but for anybody who identifies as a minority. We deserve to be heard, we deserve to be seen, we deserve to have equal opportunities so that we can have a seat at the table. That's all we are asking for. Let us prove that we are worth it."

Some stars wore a blue ribbon to the Oscars. What did it represent?

By Jessica Riga

If you look closely, you'll see Cate Blanchett wearing one. (Reuters: Eric Gaillard)

The blue ribbon says "#WithRefugees" and was created in partnership with the UN Refugee Agency's Coalition.

It's meant to be an "emblem of compassion and solidarity" with refugees, displaced people, and those who have been forced to flee their homes because of war, conflict, and persecution.

Ruth Carter found out *after* her award that she made history

By Jessica Riga

Kyle Buchanan is at the Governors Ball and (unknowingly) broke the news to Ruth Carter that she's the first black woman to win two Oscars (Best Costuming for both Black Panther films.)

"I did not know that," she said, then pausing.

"That's crazy. That's a hard act to follow. But that just means that we need more representation."

What was in the gift bags for the Oscar nominees?

By Jessica Riga

Our mates at The Drum have had a peak inside the goodie bag, with Karen Tong writing:

Even though our Cate didn't win the Best Leading Actress, she – along with all the nominees in the acting and directing categories – received a couple of three-night stays at luxury resorts in Canada and Italy, several multi-thousand dollar cosmetic procedure vouchers, and a hand soap that washes your jewellery as you wash your hands.

Oh also, one square metre of land in Australia!

That's right – Pieces of Australia paid $4,000 for a spot in the exclusive gift bag, and they've gifted nominees with the 'Aussie Mate Conservation Pack'.

It includes a dedicated plot of land measuring one square metre, a personalised Certificate of Land Licence, and the planting of two trees.

But, there’s not much the nominees can do with the land, as the website states in the T&Cs that the land license is essentially a "symbolic souvenir".

As an F1 fan, it's very strange to see Jean Todt in the front row at the Oscars.

OMG. Today I learnt Michelle Yeoh's partner is Jean Todt.

As a fellow F1 fan, my worlds are colliding.

Heya! There are multiple after parties but the Vanity Fair one is the BIG one.

And yes there will be more looks! We don't get to go inside the party, but there's another carpet and more chances for photos.
