Father of American teenage hostage freed by Hamas says she is ‘doing very good’

Israel has allowed a second UN aid convoy of 14 trucks to enter beseiged Gaza from Egypt, as the humanitarian crisis in the enclave of 2.3 million people grows and Israeli strikes intensify.

While the aid was again welcomed as “a small glimmer of hope” by the UN, they warned the delivery of food, water and medical supplies was not nearly enough to scratch the surface of need caused by the Israeli blockade, which has intensified since Hamas militants’ massacre of Israelis a fortnight ago.

As Israel prepares for a ground invasion of Gaza by intensifying its airstrikes, its soldiers are also engaged in skirmishes and rocket exchanges with militant group Hezbollah on the border with Lebanon, who have threatened Israel over its plans to invade Gaza.

Speaking to troops in northern Israel, prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that, if Hezbollah launches a war, “it will make the mistake of its life”, adding: “We will cripple it with a force it cannot even imagine and the consequences for it and the Lebanese state will be devastating.”
