Prime Minister Boris Johnson will hold a press conference at 8pm on Monday evening (January 4) with further coronavirus restrictions expected.
Downing Street has said further steps "must now be taken" to "protect the NHS and save lives", and these will be set out this evening.
It comes after Scotland announced a lockdown from midnight.
The Prime Minister has already said there was 'no question' the Government would announce tougher measures.
It comes as primary schools across the county have been announcing they will only be open to vulnerable children and those of key workers on the first day of the new term on Monday.
