As it happened: ACT's run of low case numbers

Two people have died with COVID-19, as the territory recorded five new cases of the virus in the 24 hours to 8pm Sunday.

A man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s died with COVID-19 on Sunday. They had been receiving intensive care, neither were vaccinated.

Authorities have given the green light for the Canberra Racing Club to host 1000 punters at Thoroughbred Park on Melbourne Cup Day. With COVID still circulating in the community and high, and still-climbing, vaccination rates, the event could set the tone for the post-lockdown era in Canberra.

Meanwhile, quarantine-free travel commenced between the ACT and most parts of Victoria and NSW from today.

A person attended a Tuggeranong school while unknowingly infectious with COVID-19 last week.
