The Atlantic Coast Conference has had an extremely fruitful year in terms of producing NCAA contenders, with three of the four #1 seeds originating from the ACC—Duke (East), Virginia (South) and North Carolina (Midwest).

Gonzaga (West) is the only top seed not to come from the ACC, and the West Coast Conference tournament runners-up will get their postseason up and running against either Prairie View or Fairleigh Dickinson, who face off in the First Four on Wednesday.

An injury to Duke freshman forward and NBA Draft top contender Zion Williamson disrupted Duke’s end to the season, but his return to fitness helped lead them to the ACC tournament crown. The Blue Devils are now odds favorites to compete for the national title in a few week’s time, with Williamson a strong favorite to take the Most Outstanding Player trophy.

Minnows Gardner-Webb (No. 16) and Abilene Christian (No. 15) are poised to take part in their first NCAA tournaments, though neither team stands much chance of advancing as they meet No. 1 Virginia and No. 2 Kentucky, respectively.

Will Williamson live up to the hype and guide Duke to a second NCAA championship in five years, or will we see an underdog emerge to take down the titans?
