It took two Aboriginal customers from a community 90 minutes' drive from Katherine several visits and four months to open a basic, fee-free ANZ transaction account, the royal commission hears.
The commission heard from a social worker with Save the Children who was getting "quite frustrated" with the bank in her attempts to get her clients an account that would not see them pay ATM, overdrawn and dishonour fees.
