Live service dominated 2025 as both PlayStation and Xbox's top 10 US best sellers were almost entirely multiplayer games, with Ghost of Yotei the single-player-only exception

2025's best selling PS5 games list in the US has revealed that only one non-live service game cracked the top ten.

Veteran games industry analyst, Circana's Mat Piscatella, has shared the top ten best-selling PlayStation games of 2025 in the US and – as spotted by ResetEra user nolifebr – reveals that live service games are still dominating.

NBA 2K26 topped the charts with Battlefield 6 coming in second, while PlayStation's own Ghost of Yotei took the third place spot. And as it turns out, Yotei is alone, as the rest of the top ten is composed of Call of Duty and sports titles. Interestingly Microsoft took three spots on the list with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and 7, as well as Forza Horizon 5, while Sony itself only had Ghost of Yotei and MLB: The Show 25.

However, when it comes to Xbox consoles, it's largely the same story, as all ten of the spots were filled with live service titles. However, shockingly, Black Ops 7 only just made the top 10, with WWE 2K25, Monster Hunter Wilds, Borderlands 4 and Sony's Helldivers 2 taking top 10 spots in the Xbox list.

Nintendo – while not much for traditional live service – had a similarly big year for multiplayer games with Pokemon Legends Z-A, both Mario Kart 8 and World, Minecraft, and Kirby Air Riders cracking the top 10. Meanwhile, PC had a varied mix with single-player hits Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Oblivion Remastered making waves on there.

Battlefield 6 took the top spot on both Xbox and PC, while taking the number two spot on PlayStation, so it's safe to say it was one of the best performing games of the year. The biggest shocker has to be that Monster Hunter Wilds seemingly had its best performance on PC despite the irony of its PC performance being terrible. Regardless, it's a reminder of why so many companies are chasing the live service gravy train.

Final Fantasy 14's Yoshi-P calls Ghost of Yotei "outstanding" and says it's the 2025 game "I still find myself playing"
